On many occassions in my hometown of Tazewell, Virginia, my girlfriends Jessica and Trang would make a wonderful pizza dip. I’ve carried the recipe on for years, and added my own twists to it. Sometime, the simpler it is, the better – but it’s always fun to make it the way you like your pizza best. What I like most about it is people of all ages can enjoy it. The kids will literally destroy it before much is left for David and me. Here are the ingredients to a little slice of heaven in your mouth…
2 8oz blocks cream cheese softened
1 jar pizza sauce
1 package pepperoni
shredded mozzarella and shredded Parmesan
*Any other toppings you may want to add*
Mix your two cream cheeses until smooth, add just a touch of the pizza sauce for thinning purposes. Layer the bottom of your baking dish with the cream cheese mixture. Then layer your jar of sauce over that. Sprinkle your cheese over the sauce, then add your pepperoni and other toppings. Top your pepperoni with the shredded Parmesan and bake at 350 for 25 minutes or until bubbling. I enjoy this dip many ways! We’ve added sausage, mushrooms, banana peppers – you name it! We’ve used Tostito’s scoops, mini pita bites from Sams club that are AH-mazing and also with Melba toast. It’s also easy to cut the carbs, and use celery or even a fork to get your pizza fix. I love having this at a tailgate party, or when we have friends over to watch sports. It’s most definitely a crowd pleaser!
As ALWAYS, enjoy with those you love.
