Whether it is Christmas Morning, or you’re expecting company on a summer weekend, this fix-ahead breakfast is simply amazing. It’s even better reheated, and my girls often request it with ketchup!
1 lb sausage (mild or spicy)
6 slices white bread, broken into pieces
2 cups grated sharp cheddar cheese (8 oz)
5 Eggs
2 cups milk
½ tsp dry mustard
Dash of Pepper
Dash of Worcestershire (Optional)
Fry Sausage; drain. Layer bread in a greased 9×13” baking dish. Spoon sausage over bread; sprinkle with cheese. Beat eggs; combine with milk, salt, mustard and pepper. Pour egg mixture in dish. Refrigerate overnight. Bake at 350 degrees for 35 to 45 minutes or until set. Makes 6-8 servings. Other variations of this can include sautéed mushrooms, sautéed asparagus – or any vegetable you might enjoy in an omelet. The traditional way is most definitely the way to go for a true crowd-pleaser! Serve with a side of fruit, and enjoy!
